Offering Healthcare to All  Dr. McKay, a graduate of the University of Georgia
and Mercer University School of Medicine, completed her residency and was
board certified in Internal Medicine at the Medical University of South
Carolina in Charleston. Prior to moving to Chapel Hill, she was an
Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Connecticut. It was
there she envisioned starting a practice where she could spend more time
with patients in a more intimate setting. Her dream became a reality when
she founded Avalon Medical Group, in the building erected in 1959 by Drs.
Kemp Jones, William Joyner, and Fred Patterson, the town’s first Family
Medicine Group .
